WILD and WONDERFUL

WEST VIRGINIA - PART 1 ... MAY 23 2013

We left home about 9 a.m. and headed south on I79 towards WV.  Once thru Morgantown we headed east.  I will tell our story County by County.  We had a great week.

PRESTON CO.  Scenery, Barns, Landscaping, rain - of course - but when did I ever let a little rain dampen my spirits?

We had no time schedule.  Since it was off-season we had no trouble finding lodging every evening when we were ready to call it a day.

The new computer isn't any better than the old one.  I SELECT JUST ONE PICTURE, the computer takes them all.  Why does it say to SELECT the picture you want added, then ADD ALL OF THEM?  No wonder I am crazy.

We visited Cathedral State Park.  Trees were down everywhere, they had experienced a horrendous wind storm sometime back, and the clean up was just getting underway.  We also saw storm damage in many of the areas we were in.  I just can't imagine!

We continued into Hampshire County where we spent the night in Romney. We detoured into Maryland to see Swallow Falls State Park, but there was so much wind damage we were not able to see the falls.  All the trails were still closed.

We had wanted to ride the Potomac Eagle train through the mountains, but because it was off season the train only ran on the weekends.  Had to scratch that off also.  That was one of the down-sides of traveling off-season.

So the next morning we headed west out of Romney to continue our trip, then turning south, not knowing how far we would get or what we would see.

Have a good day, be thankful the really bad storm did not materialize, and God Bless.
