A HOUSEFUL and A "WAR" ... JULY 05 2011.......
Another summer holiday, 6 weeks to Labor Day, then summer is over. What happened?
At last count we had 27 here eating, laughing, having fun. A lot of food disappeared, but have enough left over to munch on today. That will be about it. This is just a portion of the food line. We had so much. Dogs and Burgers, macaroni salad, potato salad, jello salad, bean salad, corn relish salad, baked beans, strawberry shortcake, cheese
tray, pickles and olives, watermelon, veggie tray, brownies, no-bake cookies, I can't remember it all.
We had a laugh about the no-bake cookies. My friends from Sardis Ohio brought them, actually Dan made the cookies, Georgia made the brownies. The brownies were made the evening before. Yesterday morning the no-bakes were on the agenda. Dan told us he didn't know whether he would get them made or not because their electric went out during the night from a storm. My granddaughter Shelby pointed out to Dan, "you don't need electric to make no bake cookies". She is 16.
These are some of the eat-ins. It was nice out, but air-conditioned inside.
Plus we had a real table, not trays, or stuff.
We were the smart ones.
These are the eat-outs ( just some of them) on the deck.
The deck is a perfect place to sit, relax, and just enjoy yourself.
Later in the day son Michael told us all of his and Jerry's adventures when flying to Alaska last summer to go fishing. By the time he had finished everyone was practically rolling on the floor, doubled up with laughter. He can make everything he tells an adventure. It would take a book to tell about that trip, but an 8 hour flight took 2 days.
Relaxing in the living room for a while, again staying cool.
Son Michael on left with his granddaughter Heyleigh, his wife Tammy, my friend Vicki, my grandson Garrett and her back to you Mike and Tammy's daughter.
Just enjoying the view from the deck.
As you can see, we have a great group of friends and family, our get-to-gethers are always great. Daughter Rebecca in the foreground, with grandson Coleman, husband Neal (on right), friend Dan, the no-bake-cookie man, and granddaughter Shelby.
I guess the second part of this blog will have to wait until tomorrow. It will be another History Lesson. I think you will enjoy it. In the meantime, have a great day and God Bless.
