ALWAYS SOMETHING UNEXPECTED.....FEBRUARY 14 2012......

Life is full of surprises, some good, some bad, and yesterday was one of those days.

After completing my blog yesterday, I started checking my picture inventory to determine what new pictures I would print.  First A&C Festival in May.

Since I do all my own printing (can print up to a 13 x 19 picture) I have the wide format professional printer.  Well, said printer bombed on me yesterday.  Guess it was about time, have had it for 7 or 8 years, it has printed lots of pics.

So, on line - Staples web-site - and started checking out printers.  Found one that, I hope, will be just what I needed.  It was listed on sale, saving $70.00.  That will work.

As I had to go to Washington yesterday to pick up Jerry - and eat out - I left a little early to run a couple of errands, and check out the printer.

They had the one I wanted on display.  At full price.  I had copied all the info from the computer, Model #, Stock #, you know, the important stuff.  I WAS prepared.

After checking out the printer I told the young fellow helping me about finding it on the computer and the price.  He went and check the Staples web-site and found said information.  However the store had not been advised of this sale price.  Spoke with manager.  By the way, both of these folks were very helpful and kind.

Store manager said they would match the web-site price.  Got my printer on sale.  Jerry set it up last night for me, I have my own computer tech living with me, or me living with him, whatever, and he does come in handy.

So later today will be THE TEST.  I will see what kind of job this printer will do.  Have two weeks to return it for full refund if not satisfactory.

The only things I do not do for the business is make the mats - I buy the mats, I used to cut them by hand, but it is very time-consuming, and so I now buy the mats.  I also buy my frames wholesale, but do the framing myself.  A lot of the major festivals are very picky about the percentage of what you actually do yourself compared to the percentage of what you buy already made.  You walk a fine line when the jurying process is being done.  By doing all my own printing, it keeps my side of the line in the right percentage.  Therefore, I need the professional wide format printer.

Another little gem - all the pictures I show in my blogs, unless otherwise indicated that they are from another source, are in my business files.  All can be ordered from me, matted and ready to frame.  Just request a quote.  I have been told over and over that my prices are very reasonable, I guess that is why I am still in business.

This afternoon a friend (traveling companion, fellow vendor, run-around-together type) is coming with some of her new jewelry for me to photograph, and make her some CD's for jurying purposes.  She does many of the same festivals that I do.

This is one of the pictures I have done of some of her jewelry that she has used in the Jurying process.

Well, enough rambling for one day.  Supposed to rain.  Hopefully it will remove the remainder of our snow.  And so, have a good day and God Bless.
