LITTLE STEELERS .... IT IS NEVER TOO EARLY TO START ... JULY 03 2011

It is July 3rd, isn't it??????

My granddaughter-in-law likes to make everyone think she is a Dallas Cowboys fan - just because we are all Steelers, and we really don't like the Dallas Cowboys.  Since she lives in Arizona you would think she would be an Arizona Cardinals fan.  What a mixed-up family!

I remember one Christmas she sent a whole package of Cowboys memorabilia -  flag, license plate, balloon, ribbons, etc., with the request that Jerry's cousin Bob would sneak into the garage and attach it all to his car.

He did, it was hilarious, he couldn't believe what we had done.  It wasn't until the next morning, when he was ready to leave for work that he found all the decorations.  By then it was too late to do anything but drive to work - in Pittsburgh - during football season -  decorated as a Dallas Cowboy.

Of course Tiffany was far enough away she didn't get any of the fall-out.  Oh yes, there were even a couple of flags to push into the ground outside of the house.  Poor Jerry - he really did get a razzing at work that day.  Needless to say the car became un-decorated that evening.  Never again!

That has been several years ago, but we still have some of the Cowboys stuff here at the house.

And so as the Grandkids had their two children, both girls, They were going to grow up to be Steeler fans, like it or not.  Jerry sends Steeler stuff to them for Christmas.  We have had a good time with it., and the girls seems to enjoy being the center of attention.  What girl doesn't like that.

As the older girl is taking cheer-leading lessons - just for fun., they had to have pom poms, so, of course, the pom poms were to be back and gold.

The older daughter rebelled at the black and gold pom poms, her favorite colors are red, red, and more red.  So she got red and silver pom poms, but the younger has the black and gold.

The gist of this story is that I received an e-mail last night from Arizona, showing the girls in their Steeler outfits.  What a hoot.  The youngest one is just about as ornery as they come, and from the expression on her face, you had better watch out, because that little mind is working.  Her Mom can hardly keep up with her.  The older one is 5 going on 18.  Their Mom really is a very busy lady.  But they are doing a great job with their girls.

I would love to post their picture, but they prefer not having their kids pictures posted on the 'net, so am abiding by their wishes.  But they did look adorable, dressed in their Steeler outfits, waving their pom poms.

Two more for the Steeler Nation.  No wonder everyone loves the Steelers.

Today will be doing food prep for our cookout on Monday.  Already have the food prepared to take to our friend's cookout today.  There is usually quite a large crowd there, they have fireworks at dusk.  There is soo much food, you don't know what to try first.  This has been going on for several years, and we really enjoy the day.

So, off to Church this morning, then off to the cookout at the bottom of our hill, with over-indulging - which comes with the territory - then home and to bed so that tomorrow I can finish the food prep for our cook-out.  Somewhere in the next 3-4 days I HAVE to get my matting and framing done.  Running out of time.  No wonder I don't know what day it is.

I found this pretty little Church near Bedford Mass. when I was there in the spring.  Looks like a typical New England Church.

Have a wonderful 4th, and don't forget what it is all about.  Not just cookouts and partys, but rememberance, and thanks, for all the sacrifices our armed forces have made so that can have our fireworks, cookouts, parties. get-to-gathers, concerts, races, everything that makes up the holidays.  So take a moment to bow your heads and say "thank you" for all that we have, and God Bless.
